Since Dudley got us (the correct perspective of a cat), we’ve known he’s had gingivitis. He eats a special large food to help combat this, but we’ve also had to take him to get his teeth cleaned at the denti… er, veternarian. Today was cleaning number three. It’s a full, day-long ordeal: he’s put to sleep, IV, the whole bit. (Not to mention money flying out of the pocketbook…) But I was impressed with the care packet we got from the vet – it included a printout complete with before and after pictures of his teeth. It also, for the first time, included cat toothpaste – salmon flavored, and spray mouthwash, which seems to be mint-flavored. I suppose one is to follow the other, but maybe the latter wouldn’t be necessary if the former didn’t leave a fishy smell behind?

“Dental Discharge for Dudley Tallacksen”
Sounds so people-ific. Somehow, I guess I never imagined we’d have a “Dudley” in the family line.
Anyway, I’m glad Dudley is being well taken care of. He might have a very serious problem if you two weren’t so consciencious on his behalf. He’s fortunate to have gotten the two of you.
