Looking for advice from all you males that use an electric razor. My mid-level Norelco just died. I’m reading through all the reviews, thinking this might be an opportunity to switch camps, but I’m not seeing any consensus re: if the foil-type (Braun) is really better than the triple-head (Norelco). Sure, the $200+ Braun is supposed to be really nice, but c’mon… In general I was happy with my Norelco, other than the effort always needed to make sure all nooks and crannies on my neck were taken care of. But I guess I kind of expect that. The Brauns claim the closer shave (not a biggie for me), but they also require constant investment in the cleaning solution. The Norelco heads are pricey, but I feel with judicious cleaning I can go 2 years before replacing. I’m typing myself into thinking Norelco is the way to go. Anyone want to talk me out of it?

I’ve been a Norelco triple-head user for I think just over a year (Christmas 2007?) and it works for me. Here at the station I don’t know what model I have, but it included a charging/cleaning station that has a cleaning solution in it that keeps evaporating such that I need to either top it off or change it out (gets kind of mucky) most every time I recharge — or just skip the cleaning process. For me shaving with a blade does a better job and probably doesn’t take much longer, though requires staying closer to the sink than the Norelco requires. Good luck!

Went ahead and ordered a Norelco 8240XL, a definite upgrade from the model I currently have now. I imagine it will be fine. Now I’ve just got to scrape by (heh heh) on my probably 5-year-old razor until it arrives…
