Been finding these bugs both alive and dead around the basement and kitchen. They’re tiny – about 1/8th inch long. Not ant-like as best I can tell. Note the long ‘nose’. Have done some cleaning of suspect areas and such already, but figure I need to ID them before I figure out what kind of killer I need. Anyone know?

Have no clue! mom

Perhaps the western conifer seed bug?

Hmmm, I don’t think so. Looks like the western conifer seed bug, while it does have long antennae, it doesn’t have a long snout. And the legs are wrong.

Dad

This is a weevil (Coleoptera: Curculionidae); it appears to be one of the grain pests in the genus Sitophilus – see http://tinyurl.com/yfaa4cv for detailed information. Ed Saugstad, retired entomologist; Sinks Grove, WV.
