Dudley already working on his butt groove

It’s kind of hard to tell, but the name of the color is sage. Depending on the light it looks anywhere from greenish to greyish. It’s long enough for Adrienne to lay down flat head to toe, but not David. He think she planned it that way, in an anti-napping move. As has been proven before, we won’t let that get in the way!

Really need a wider angle lens… 🙂 The furballs seem to like it!

Citrus Blast!

Monday, May 31st, 2010

I’m posting this pic because I actually like the combo of the paint and the blue masking tape. But Adrienne says the tape will come down, so I’ll post another once it’s dry and the room is reset. Not the best pic, but it’s the closest to the color (of course on your monitor it probably will look different…).

projects and ice cream

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

A couple photos from the weekend so far: enlarged hole allows for successful path to second floor office for CAT6 and coax wiring (the project started with brother Doug); Applegate Farms homemade ice cream, just shy of a 5-mile bike ride away, determined to not be as good as Jersey City favorite Torico’s; and wall jack in kitchen wired with CAT6.

After tomorrow I should have Bloomfield Memorial Day parade pics and completed citrus blast-painted sunroom pics to share!

One more project complete

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

About $20 worth of hardware and materials to refinish this table (that we rescued from the garbage while still living in JC).

Need to find some stools, I think.

Last fire of the season

We’re now out of wood.

A last chance to wrap up in a blanket with a friend.

Weekend wrap up

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Lots of rain, but rather than building an ark, I decided to (re)finish our coffee table and end tables. These are cheap-o IKEA solid pine jobbers I bought back in college, but I figured we could get a couple more years out of them by finally putting a little elbow grease into them. Here’s a pic of the coffee table:

Much improved, for those of you that remember what they were like before! I also put up some more lights in the living room:

There’s one more ball out of the frame. And we were trying to decide what to have for dinner tonight. Adrienne picked up some salmon. I suggested fish tacos. I know they’re usually done with some flavor of white fish, but they were still quite good!

Happy Weekend!

After

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

For the life of me I can get the color quite right in the photo, but as Adrienne says, it’s pretty close. The color in person is just a tinge more green than what you see (assuming your monitor looks like mine…).

Even after two coats, we’ve had a heck of a time getting even color. Our walls are a good bit uneven, so that can’t be helping, but at some point we have to call it done… We’re also doing a little reorganizing, putting the piano in the sunroom, the stereo in the living room, and thus more open space and shelving in the dining room. Come on over and check it out when you can… 🙂

-edit-

And here’s a nighttime photo of things better arranged and organized. Need a little wider-angle lens (Tokina 11-16 or Nikon 10-24) to really fit it all in…

Kitchen Project: Lemon Sorbet in the Pantry

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

We made the decision to forge on ahead with our plans to redo the pantry. This meant tearing out the wooden shelves, patching the drywall (still far from great condition, but good enough for a pantry), painting, and installing new shelves. Adrienne picked the color – Lemon Sorbet – and painted. David handled pre- and post-painting finishing. Here’s the process.
