Too dark to be useful. However, here’s a webcam from the NY Times building in NYC. It’s pretty nice because along with being able to see the Empire State building and Chrysler in the background, the tall building on the left with the antenna mast on top is the home of WBGO’s primary transmitter. Still there and doing it’s job!
Short story is the clouds made for not optimum conditions – they reflected so much light from the city that you could only see the Tribute in Light (barely!) through a lens.Look on the right side of the photo. This is the best one I got, argh. It might help to click on the photo to make it bigger.
The place we went to is Eagle Rock Reservation, which has a very nice lookout point on Jersey and NYC. It also has a 9/11 tribute, and had quite the crowd there tonight as expected.
And since we got crappy photos of the tribute, here are some Mallory pics to make up for it.
And one from I think yesterday. Two well-deserved naps!
My views per day graph on this here blog is flatter than the state of Kansas (which happens to be flatter than a pancake), so in an effort to boost readership I thought I’d post something, anything. And that pretty much means random photos with random commentary.

About two weeks ago I saw my first cross country race in a very long time. I was riding home through Branch Brook park. I stopped and took a crappy photo. Ahhh, memories.

One tends to become very popular with the felines if one is enjoying some ice cream on the couch.

When I bought my Canon G9, I also researched LCD protectors. I’m not sure how it happened, but the one I bought (a Giottos 12-layer) finally did it’s job – I noticed it was chipped at the edge, had to have been from a fall/drop of some sort. I’ll be purchasing another; relatively cheap insurance and it’s the best looking (or not looking, because you see right through it) protector I’ve seen.
By the by, one of the big projects I’ve been involved with at work is a redesign of our website. I’m glad to say we finally went live with it recently. There are still lots of things to work out and add, but it’s a huge step forward for WBGO. This is a good thing.
The Newport Creamery serves up a tasty ‘Awful Awful’ – a twist between a shake and a Blizzard. Pretty good!
The Bayberry Inn provided accommodations. Nice place.
My office for the weekend.
For sale – we should get it for our new kitten!
And the sun sets at the close of the Festival; this is the stage (one of three) that’s actually inside Fort Adams.
A nice time, good weather, good music. If it weren’t for the traffic I might not have even noticed I was working… well, besides the fact it ate up my entire weekend and then some. If you missed the broadcast, you can relive it all at NPRmusic.org.
Favorite Performances include all the above EXCEPT Nikki Yanofsky and add in Sonny Rollins’ performance (so check these bands out, good stuff). And that’s all the Montreal stuff I’ll bug you with this year!
While living in Jersey City, Adrienne and I went to some ‘movies in the park’ that were a regular summer series in one of the nearby parks. Not exactly the same, but the Montclair (2 towns/5 minute drive over) Film Festival shows a couple open-air films throughout the summer, shutting down a commerce street so we can bring out chairs and blankets. Adrienne had never seen ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ all the way through, so we picked up some Quizno’s and enjoyed a nice night out.
Maybe I don’t remember enough of our visit to Florida way back when, but it really amazes me all the stuff they had to think about – The Right Stuff doesn’t even begin to cover it!
