Weekend photos

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Friday night I met Adrienne in the city for a concert at the Manhattan School of Music. Afterward we strolled down Broadway and found ourselves at a Ben and Jerry’s. We both got 2-scoop mini waffle cones, but Adrienne didn’t/couldn’t finish hers, and so decided she’d take it home… on the subway, then the PATH then walking home. Here’s a photo of it at the World Trade Center, waiting for the 7-minute PATH train ride and then 7-minute walk:

Adrienne put it in the freezer and had it the following evening as we watched “The Wrestler.”

The cats always seem to like laying on my trombone cases, and my new one seems to be no exception. Though due to the design, it’s more of laying in vs. on:

And Sunday evening Adrienne went for a little ride out to the house. We were a bit disappointed to find very few houses decorated for Haloween, but that’s less competetion for us (still hopefull we’ll be in it by then…). We did come across this laying on the sidewalk in front of the house. Hope it’s not a sign…

Sunday update (gratuitous pics of cats, food and houses)

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

It’s hot, we’re trying to pack, blah blah blah, and Dudley’s showing Sylvester who’s boss.

Celli always likes to help read the newspaper.

Dinner was salmon burgers, done on the cast iron stove-top since we’re out of charcoal:

Along with the packing come new empty places for kitties to explore.

A Sunday drive took us back out to the ‘burbs to check on the results of our garlic-juice mosquito spray. Let’s just say we’re not quite convinced yet. But there are many variable to control for, so who knows. We’ll keep the hope alive.

We now have a trash can full of weeds, and we’ve just barely touched the surface. That area where Adrienne’s standing is actually a driveway! And the green over the the right should be grass, but isn’t.

Despite the mosquitoes, we remain hopeful we’ll be moving in in the next two weeks, but time will tell.

Air-cooled

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

We’re hoping to make it out of our apartment without putting the A/C in. The cats are thus going for maximum surface area air-cooling.

Cats like moving

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Because it gives them stuff to climb. Celli likes high spots:

We’ve already started packing, and we’re clearing space for boxes. Which means going vertical with some shelves. Meanwhile, Dudley goes horizontal:

Celli has bacon breath

Monday, June 29th, 2009

I cooked some bacon for BLTs tonight. Cut the pieces in half to be sandwich-size. Adrienne had yoga, so I ate without her and left the 5 half-pieces on the plate for her. Then I went into the office and checked email.

Adrienne got home and started making dinner. I look at the bacon – 4 pieces. I count again. I look on the table and floor. Then I see Celli on the bed, madly licking her chops. And she’s got bacon breath.

Saturday is Caturday

Today while some of us lazed around:

Others of us actually started packing. Yeah, the contract isn’t even out of attorney review, but we’re hoping to pull this off by the end of July for rent reasons, plus we’ll be effectively gone for two weeks in July. But the packing gave others a chance to do some exploring:

Actually Celli also did some shelf-sitting, I just didn’t grab a pic of it. Off to a baby shower in a bit. Happy Saturday!

Saturday Morning… garden update

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Just some photos this beautiful Saturday morning. Celli soaking up the sun:

Garden update – I’m still not exactly sure what’s going on with the parsley, but everything else (including the purchased (not seeded) rosemary and grape tomato plants) is coming along nicely.

And the spinach has buds, who knew?!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Celli’s got Adrienne’s back

Lately Celli seems to have a thing for climbing on people’s backs. Go figure.

Dudley gets a teeth cleaning

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Since Dudley got us (the correct perspective of a cat), we’ve known he’s had gingivitis. He eats a special large food to help combat this, but we’ve also had to take him to get his teeth cleaned at the denti… er, veternarian. Today was cleaning number three. It’s a full, day-long ordeal: he’s put to sleep, IV, the whole bit. (Not to mention money flying out of the pocketbook…) But I was impressed with the care packet we got from the vet – it included a printout complete with before and after pictures of his teeth. It also, for the first time, included cat toothpaste – salmon flavored, and spray mouthwash, which seems to be mint-flavored. I suppose one is to follow the other, but maybe the latter wouldn’t be necessary if the former didn’t leave a fishy smell behind?

Christmas “vacation” round up

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Yeah, it didn’t always feel like vacation, what with all the stupid travel issues. But it was still nice to get away and see everyone. Hope your holidays were equally thrilling!
