Terrible.
We put it on the netflix because Ebert rated it one of the best films of 2009, and one of the best science-fiction films he’s seen. Let’s just say I’ve lost all respect for him. Oh, and all Nicolas Cage films are officially banned in my household.

A few days ago David got the pot rack up, which has helped move forward the kitchen organization:

And I had to share this photo. Too bad I don’t have one from WNIJ, the only other radio station for which I’ve worked!

I got tickets for a concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center tonight, so Adrienne and I went in a little early to walk through Central Park on this misty, fall day:

And of course today was the opening day of the new Apple store on the Upper West Side, so we walked by there as well:

Sometimes I see how people accessorize and wonder what it reveals about their personality. Take, for instance, this large-headphone, gold-Casio-Databank-wearing woman I’ve seen twice on the train:

I remember saving $40 to purchase my plain-black-plastic banded (which was notorious for cracking and breaking) Databank. Those were the days. Could calculate, could store the phone numbers of my 50-closest friends (yeah, I don’t think I ever filled it), could store all my appointments… so cool, and yet agonizing to use. Since then I’ve moved on to a good old Timex Ironman, which pretty much stays on me 24/7, and well, takes a licking and keeps on ticking. In some ways, I guess the Timex – durable, reliable, just sporty enough, not too complicated – may be is a good reflection of me. Or maybe not, who knows. Anyway, what are you wearing? 🙂

My alarm went off at 4:30, so I’d have time to start the caramel rolls before we left the house at 5:30ish. Once we got into the city, we stopped by a deli for some breakfast sandwiches to go with our hot chocolate in a thermos. Got to our viewing area around 7am, and the crowd was pretty small. It filled out quite a bit in an hour’s time – by 8am we basically couldn’t move, though we had everyone from little stuck up, poorly-parented kids pushing through to elderly people hitting us with their bags. Fisticuffs almost broke out at one point between some definite Jersians; a fun time was had by all! We stayed for maybe half of it, then fought our way through the crowd to freedom. Enjoy the pics!

Just a few minutes ago I was taking the garbage out, and noticed a moon halo. Figured I’d grab a photo of it, but then I realized the G9 was left at work today. So I pulled the old A70 into service, after scrounging around for 4 AA batteries that had enough juice in them. So I took the pic – or rather, lots of them. Isn’t it funny how it’s always one of the first that are the best? At least that’s how it is for me.

By the by, for those of you keeping track, dpreview.com came out with their review of the D90 today. I have to say, I’m a bit conflicted. For all the accolades, it doesn’t seem as outstanding a review as I’d have maybe wanted. More research is definitely warranted!

Seen on the side of our local arts supply store, just a couple blocks away.

Did you listen to the debate? Did you play Palin bingo? (thanks to co-worker Josh Jackson for the link!)

One from the right coast, one from the left. Both I suspect have some HDR foolery. Neither taken by me.
